ACTION AIR: THE GATEWAY
Accuracy. Power. Speed. The IPSC Standard.
What is IPSC Action Air?
IPSC Action Air is a dynamic, challenging, and rapidly growing shooting sport where athletes must blend accuracy, power, and speed into a winning combination[cite: 1, 5]. The sport utilizes diverse courses of fire featuring multiple targets, moving targets, reactive targets, and obstacles to keep competitors challenged and spectators engaged[cite: 2, 6].
“The appeal of the sport lies in the diversity of the courses of fire available to the athlete. By offering different challenges rather than set types, IPSC continues to improve the skills of the shooting enthusiast.” [cite: 7, 8]
DVC: Accuracy, Power, Speed
The Latin words Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas (DVC) are IPSC’s motto and form the foundation for all competition[cite: 3]. Beyond the competitive strategies, IPSC emphasizes strict procedures for safe gun handling and adherence to international rules.
Starting Your Journey
Is there a place for beginners? Absolutely. Every current competitor was once at the beginner stage[cite: 10]. By joining matches at an IPSC club, you gain the advantage of qualified range officials and a community of athletes eager to help you start[cite: 11, 12]. Using the ICS classification system, athletes are assured they will face competitors of equal skill levels.
The Divisions of Competition
To ensure fair play, athletes compete within specific divisions based on their equipment[cite: 13, 21, 41, 52].
Standard Division
- Handguns must fit inside a specific measurement box with the slide parallel to the longest side.
- Magazines must not contain more than 18 projectiles at the Start Signal[cite: 16].
- Telescoping magazines or compressible base pads are expressly prohibited[cite: 15].
- Porting of inner barrels is prohibited, though slide and outer barrel porting is permitted[cite: 18, 19].
Classic Division
- Handguns must visibly resemble the profile of the classic 1911-genre design (single-stack, one-piece frame)[cite: 21, 22].
- Magazines are limited to 10 projectiles at the Start Signal[cite: 28].
- Prohibited modifications include slide lightening cuts, weak hand thumb rests, and slide rackers[cite: 25].
- Permitted modifications include custom triggers, hammers, and any open sights embedded into the slide[cite: 26].
Open Division
- Handguns are exempt from size constraints and do not require placement within a measurement box.
- Magazines are subject to a maximum overall length of 170mm.
- Magazines must not contain more than 28 projectiles at the Start Signal.
- Optical or electronic sights are permitted and may be frame or slide mounted.
- Modifications including compensators, ported inner barrels, and slide rackers are expressly permitted.
Production & Production Optics
- Production: Only Action Air versions of handguns on the approved IPSC list may be used; single-action-only models are prohibited[cite: 41, 42].
- Production Optics: Similar to Production, but fitted with a single optical/electronic sight mounted on the upper rear of the slide[cite: 52, 61].
- Start Signal: Handguns with external hammers must be fully decocked, with the first shot attempted in double action[cite: 31, 32].
- Capacity: Magazines must not contain more than 15 projectiles at the Start Signal[cite: 38].
- Aftermarket Parts: Only specific parts (springs, trigger assemblies with safeties, and grip panels matching OFM contours) are permitted[cite: 47, 48, 59].
WHY TRAIN ACTION AIR?
- 80% Skill Transfer: Holster draws and reloads are identical to live fire.
- Match Pressure: Train your brain to stay calm under the clock.
- Affordability: High-volume training at a fraction of the cost of 9mm ammo.

MISSION INTEL & SAFETY
The Four Golden Rules of Safety
1. Treat every pistol as if it were loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
Do I need a Firearms License (PAL)?
No. Since we utilize high-performance Airsoft GBB pistols, no PAL or firearms license is required to participate in Action Air. However, we maintain the exact same safety discipline as a live-fire range.
Can I bring my own gear?
Yes. Personal GBB pistols and rigs are welcome, provided they meet IPSC Action Air equipment rules and pass our safety inspection (Chrono) upon arrival.
